📢 New Age Verification Update: k-ID Integration 📢

Hey everyone! We’ve heard your concerns about safety and access in the game, and we’re working to make Gorilla Tag better for all players. That’s why we’re rolling out a new age verification system called k-ID. Here’s what you need to know:

🔹 When you log in, you’ll be prompted to use the thumbsticks to set your age.
🔹 This new process is based on local laws where you live, so it varies per player.

IMPORTANT: If you’re playing on your parent’s or guardian’s Meta account, please set up your own unique Meta account, with your parent’s or guardian’s permission, to play Gorilla Tag on their headset.

  • A: It’s just to confirm age and guardian status. The card info is only used for this and isn’t stored. Sometimes, there might be a super tiny charge (up to $0.50) which gets refunded! If it takes a few days, don’t worry - it depends on the bank.
• Q: Why does k-ID exist?
  • A: k-ID keeps online play safe and to give parents more oversight over these settings. We know some of you have been frustrated with limited access before, so this is a way to give parents the power to say "YES" to certain features.
• Q: Why don’t game devs just do this themselves?
  • A: Rules change constantly, and they’re different everywhere. k-ID helps us focus on bringing you game updates and content while keeping everything safe and compliant.

  • A: Another Axiom shares limited data like your age, country, state, IP address, and online IDs such as your platform ID with k-ID. k-ID will also ask your parent or guardian for additional information to verify your age and permissions. They must follow strict global privacy standards.
• Q: Can we use k-ID without a credit card?
  • A: Yes! Depending on where you live, parents or guardians can verify age using other methods like entering personal details or completing an ID/face scan. k-ID offers different options based on local law. 
• Q: How does k-ID keep info secure?
  • A: They’re certified by the ESRB and UK Age Check. If you or your guardians have questions, they can check the full FAQ on our website.
• Q: How often will my parents or guardians need to use k-ID?
  • A: Just once for setup. After that, they can manage your online experience through the family portal. No more pop-ups after signing in.
• Q: Can parents or guardians lie about their kid's age to bypass k-ID?
  • A: This is about keeping everyone safe, and it makes things easier for you in the long-run, too.
• Q: How much does k-ID cost?
  • A: Nothing! k-ID is completely free for players and parents or guardians to use. If you see anyone reaching out to you for a charge, please disregard and contact the mods or submit a support ticket ASAP.

  • A: Please don’t! Trying to bypass k-ID can lead to losing game features or even access. And it’s against our Terms of Service, so it may result in a ban. 
• Q: Will I get banned if I don’t use k-ID?
  • A: You won’t get banned just for not using k-ID, but some features might be limited until your age is verified.
